There’s almost never a perfect solution—nothing is 100% sustainable. There are always trade-offs and conditions. The microfiber cloths vs. paper towels debate is no exception. Neither is perfect, but one can be better than the other. Let’s dig in.

In my campaign of getting rid of plastic at home, I reached kitchen. A washing machine already works on eco-friendly detergent pods, sponges are plant-based, now it’s time to find a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to plastic bottles with toxic liquid dish detergent. And a solution to this is a plant-based zero-waste solid dish soap bar.

I have to confess, for many years, I used liquid hand soap for its convenience without considering the environmental impact – just think about all the plastic bottles thrown away!

My cats' preferred game is to throw their toys or small pieces of garbage into the toilet bowl and then fish them back out. So, this sacred area should be clean and free of toxic chemicals.

I can’t imagine how many plastic bottles from spray cleaners I've thrown away over the years, and all of them are likely still lying in landfills, decomposing into microplastics and contaminating the planet. What a shame!

When somebody says "kitchen sponge," I still immediately picture a yellow polyurethane foam sponge with a dark green scouring pad. It was an irreplaceable element in my kitchen for so long. Too long! We often get used to these everyday products and don't realize that by sticking to them, we harm the environment because both their production and utilization are planet-UNfriendly.

Think about it – we wash dishes every day! We don’t do laundry or clean the house or car nearly as often. Dishwashing is one of the biggest contributors to a household’s environmental footprint. But on the bright side, if we make it more sustainable, it can make a significant difference.
